Job Description - Controls Tech - 3rd Shift

Eaton\u2019s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Controls Tech - 3rd Shift at our Nacogdoches, TX facility! The core hours are 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. Overtime may exceed these hours and be mandatory at times. The hourly rate for this position is $33.45 per hour.\n\nPlease note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Below are a few of the outstanding benefits we offer:\n\n * Health benefits effective day one of employment. \n * Retirement benefits, Paid Parental Leave, Educational Assistance Program, Wellness Reimbursement, and more! \n\n\n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\n \nThe Controls Tech tests, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical and electronic machinery and/or systems. \n \nIn this function, you will: \n\u2022 Ensures compliance with all safety and housekeeping practices \u0026 company policies and procedures. \n\u2022 Troubleshoots and repairs machine and equipment failures with necessary hand tools, portable power tools, and soldering irons. \n\u2022 Assist, trains, and mentors other production and maintenance personnel as needed. \n\u2022 Reads and can modify if required schematic diagrams, job orders, and written procedures to determine required parts or procedures to follow for repair. \n\u2022 Uses test equipment such as oscilloscope, signal generators, power supplies and multimeters to check electrical requirements. \n\u2022 Tests and calibrates units according to the specifications and replaces defective components if necessary. \n\u2022 Maintains test equipment. \n\u2022 Develop schematic diagrams of electrical systems. \n\u2022 Support projects to install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot automated equipment \n\u2022 Diagnose and resolve electrical/controls problems including non-routine issues \n\u2022 Use Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) including basic and ladder logic to read/write basic wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints to diagnosis problems \n\u2022 Troubleshoot and repair of low voltage electrical systems (600VAC and below) \n\u2022 Oversee and enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols to guarantee the safe deactivation and isolation of equipment, ensuring energy control procedures are correctly applied to prevent inadvertent machine startup or hazardous energy discharge during repair or maintenance, in line with OSHA regulations and organizational safety guidelines. \n\u2022 Safely operates overhead cranes and hoisting equipment to move materials, components, and finished products within the manufacturing facility. \n\u2022 Actively participates in problem-solving processes, contributing to efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement within the organization. \n\u2022 Adhere to safety protocols, ensures efficient material handling, housekeeping practices (5S+), and company policies and procedures.\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nBasics Qualifications:\n\n * Must have a High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree) from an accredited institution. \n * No relocation benefit are being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.\n * Must have a minimum of two (2) years of electrical and controls system fabrication, assembly, and installation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.\n\n\n\nTechnical knowledge \nRequired: \nUnderstanding and working knowledge with the following: \n\u2022 PLC based control products (PLC5, PLC 500, RSLOGIX 5000/Studio) \n\u2022 VFD and DC Motor Controllers \n\u2022 NFPA 70 Electrical Code and installation of conduit, wiring, etc. \n\u2022 Electrical safety (Arc Flash PPE and Hazardous Locations requirements) \n\u2022 Electrical schematics / drawings and P\u0026ID diagrams \n\u2022 Knowledge in low, medium, and high voltage troubleshooting and repair \n\u2022 Knowledge with using voltmeters, ohmmeters (both analog and digital), ammeters, phase rotation meter, meggers, oscilloscopes, watt meters, loop calibrators, portable non-contact thermometers \n \n\n\n## Skills:\n\nPhysical Requirements \n\u2022 Lift up to 40 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, grabbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and using both hands to lift and lower materials, with or without reasonable accommodation. \n \nEnvironmental Factors \n\u2022 Adhere to proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when on the shop floor (safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, FR shirts, and otthers based on the department you are in). \n\u2022 Work efficiently in hot environments and tolerate loud noises.\n\nEducation level\n\n\u2022 2 year technical school certificate of completion of training in the trade preferred.\"\n\nSoft skills \n\u2022 Demonstrates effective communication, attention to detail, adaptability, and a positive work ethic, comprehends written and verbal work instructions accurately, and upholds Eaton\u2019s Values and philosophy.\n\n#IND123\n\nWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
