Job Summary: This role requires applying technical knowledge and prior experience in the production of controls project design, material selection, and development of sequences of operation for lower to mid-level projects. Responsibilities also include producing closeout documents upon project completion. Proficiency in computer skills and understanding of computer-operated systems and engineering design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, VISIO, EDS) is essential. The position demands close interaction with the Project Manager and/or assigned Project Engineer to ensure timely project completion. Effective communication in a fast-paced environment is crucial. Some travel and job site visits may be required. Essential Functions: • Research and select control system peripherals. • Lead Design Engineer in producing control systems design drawings, sequences of operations, and submittals for lower to mid-level control systems. • Read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications to ensure control systems design compliance. • Collaborate with project team members to identify additional options for the customer (e.g., Energy Efficiency, Equipment Interface, Value Engineering). • Modify previously produced controls designs to reflect field changes during implementation (As-Builts). • Generate Operation & Maintenance manuals at project close. • Manage time and cost budgets for assigned project tasks as delegated by the Project Manager or higher-level Design Engineer. • Communicate effectively with all project team members about problems, obstacles, issues, and information needs from the field. • Recommend design modifications timely and effectively to resolve potential field issues. • Submit daily and/or weekly summary of work reports to the project team leadership. • Manage weekly time allocations to multiple assigned projects for on-time weekly submission of time sheets. • Practice safe work habits and participate in office safety program requirements and specific safety requirements of all assigned projects. • Attend and complete OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 safety training classes. • Take personal responsibility for the successful completion of any assigned formal training and development plans. • Participate in the ongoing development program with other entry-level engineers. Education and Experience: • Associate's degree in a technical field or 2-5 years of related work experience in building automation systems. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred. • Strong mechanical aptitude and thorough understanding of control systems. • Knowledge of ALC product line and other vendor products, systems, and protocols. • Ability to read construction blueprints and electrical schematics. • Working knowledge of MS Office, Windows, File Structure, AutoCAD, VISIO. Basic TCP/IP network structure and web navigation are desired. • Highly organized with the ability to work in a high-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet schedules. • Ability to operate independently and take ownership of assigned tasks. • Valid California driver’s license. • Ability to ensure high customer satisfaction and deliver high-quality results. • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
