Job Description - converting operator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Operates assigned converting department equipment.

  • Performs quality checks at set ups and specified intervals when job is running as outlined on the “Quality Check Report.”

  • Assists in adjusting equipment to correct production and quality problems maximizing outputs.

  • Communicates pertinent information to Shift Lead Person as; condition of equipment, operating or quality problems, etc.

  • Completes reports and forms such as Production Reports, Job Order, Quality Check Report and Pallet Labels.

  • Records, accumulates, and calculates production pounds, bags and times.

  • Prepares boxes, wickets and other necessary packaging supplies.

  • Assists in monitoring equipment, working conditions and operating methods for safety. Reports any unsafe conditions.

  • Performs assigned housekeeping duties.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


 


QUALIFICATIONS


Education and/or Experience


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


 


Language Skills


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with other employees of the organization.


 


Mathematical Skills


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The ability to compute and interpret basic math formulas, percentages, charts and graphs.


 


Reasoning Ability


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, ore schedule form.


 


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations


Must have completed all current training required by law and by American Film and Printing.


 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 65 pounds or more than 65 pounds with assistance or proper equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


 


WORK ENVIRONMENT


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and hazardous chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The temperature is not totally controlled and is somewhat related to seasonal conditions.
