Cook

Position Summary

The cook will prepare meals and follow establishment recipes. Preparing ingredients, adhere to the café menu, follow food health and safety and sanitary procedures. Cook, clean, assist other cooks and staff and deliver food to patients. Previous experience in various cooking methods preferred as well as enjoying and having a passion for cooking and baking. Under the supervision of the Nutritional Service Director and/or Consulting Dietitian.

Key Accountabilities

• Food is to be prepared in sufficient quantity following written menus using standard recipes for general and Therapeutic diets.
• Maintain records, temperatures, meal counts, counting money, and electronic health record updates for accuracy.
• Attend Nutritional Services meetings to receive updates and direction.
• Sanitize and clean work stations and utensils for safety and to meet health requirements.
• Ensure each patient order has the correct food to meet quality and dietary standards.
• Provide menus to patients and deliver food orders to patients in a timely manner for a positive patient experience.
• Storing all food properly for safe storage and to prevent spoilage.
• Cook according to food code and safety and sanitation standards.
• Assist other cooks in preparing food or helping other team members when needed.
• Wash and put away dishes for readiness of next food preparation cycle.
• Maintain cleanliness of the café including sweeping and mopping.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Able to work in a faced paced environment.
• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Experience in quantity cooking and working with modified diets is preferred.
