Position Summary

The Line Cook plays a vital role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences for hotel guests and visitors. This position is responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of high-quality food items while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, consistency, and execution. The ideal candidate is passionate about food, thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment, and takes pride in contributing to a collaborative culinary team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines


• Ensure all food is prepared and served in a timely, consistent, and high-quality manner.


• Properly set up and stock assigned workstations before service periods


• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of kitchen work areas, equipment, and storage spaces


• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations


• Monitor food quality and notify leadership of any concerns regarding ingredients, equipment, or product standards


• Assist with receiving, storing, labeling, and rotating food products in accordance with established procedures


• Minimize food waste through proper preparation, portioning, and storage techniques


• Communicate effectively with fellow culinary team members and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service operations


• Support banquet, restaurant, lounge, and special event operations as needed


• Assist with inventory control and preparation for upcoming shifts


• Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while contributing to a team-oriented environment


• Perform additional duties as assigned to support culinary and hotel operations

Qualifications

• Previous culinary, restaurant, or food service experience


• Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen equipment


• Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices


• Ability to follow recipes, specifications, and production standards with accuracy


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality


• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure


• Strong communication and teamwork skills


• Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining attendance standards


• Culinary education or certifications are a plus but not required


• Prior hotel, banquet, or upscale dining experience is preferred

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift


• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds


• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive motions


• Ability to work safely around hot surfaces, sharp tools, kitchen equipment, and cleaning chemicals


• Availability to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business demands require
