As a Cook, you'll do more than prepare meals—you'll help create an enjoyable dining experience by providing nutritious, high-quality meals that support the health and well-being of our residents.

Schedule available:
Full-Time (32 hours per week)

  • Wednesday: 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (every week)
  • Tuesday: 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Week 1)
  • Thursday: 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Week 2)
  • Every Other Weekend: 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and physician-ordered therapeutic diets.
  • Ensure food is prepared, portioned, and presented in an appealing and timely manner.
  • Monitor food quality, temperatures, and proper storage to meet all food safety standards.
  • Assist with meal service and accommodate special dietary needs as directed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, food preparation, and storage areas.
  • Properly operate and maintain commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Receive, rotate, and store food and supplies using proper inventory and food safety practices.
  • Work collaboratively with Dietary Services team members to ensure efficient meal service.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal food safety, sanitation, and infection control regulations.
  • Treat residents, families, visitors, and coworkers with compassion, dignity, and respect.
  • Support the mission and values of Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur through your daily work.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience as a cook in healthcare, long-term care, restaurant, hospitality, or institutional food service preferred.
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques, therapeutic diets, and safe food handling practices.
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and prepare meals in appropriate quantities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Current ServSafe Food Handler or Food Protection certification preferred (or willingness to obtain if required).
  • A genuine desire to serve older adults with kindness, patience, and hospitality.
  • Willingness to support the faith-based mission of Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
