Job Summary
The Cook I prepares all food items with portion and quality standards specified in recipes, while giving attention to cleanliness and sanitation, quality standards, taste, timeliness.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare Cooking Ingredients needed for daily menus and or events.
- Prepare simple dishes such as salads,appetizers, and entrees.
- Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
- Advise supervisor of low inventory items; assist in receiving items and taking inventory as required.
- Maintain sanitation and cleanliness stands in the kitchen area that meet or exceed the state and local Health Board inspection and KR requirements
- Maintain a clean, neat, and well-organized work area, including but not limited to reach-ins, walk-ins, and counters. Reports all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor
- Operates ovens, stoves, grills, smoker, and fryer to prepare foods
- May assist by performing dishwasher or other kitchen duties as needed
- Prepare and execute weekly staff meals
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
- Report any equipment issues to lead/supervisor
- Assist in set-up/break down of work stations
- Assist with setup and breakdown and clean up of staff dining areas
- Pack, transport and set-up food equipment for all events and functions
- Clean up of event area; remove all trash, remove and transport all dirty dishes, equipment and glassware
- Assist with food deliveries as needed
- Provide support of any other culinary-related tasks as assigned
Education Requirements
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
Skills & Work Requirements:
JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic reading, writing and math skills.
- At least 2 years food preparation experience or training required
- Ability to work multiple stations in the kitchen
- Must be able to use kitchen tools safely and appropriately
- Keep knives sharpened; able to use proper knife handling procedures; uses correct knives for food items or specific task
- Must be able to use measuring tools to precisely measure ingredients and portion sizes
- Valid Driver License
- Valid TB clearance card
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS
- Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Standing up and moving about the kitchen
- Handling food, objects, products, and utensils
- Bending, stooping, kneeling
- May be required to work weekends, and/or Holidays
- May be required to travel to other locations
- Ability to drive Utility vehicle
- Ability to drive company vehicles

Salary Range
$30 - $34 USD
