POSITION SUMMARY:
Cooks II who will be responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food items in a cafeteria or food court-style restaurant, performing “spot” checks on lower level cooks to ensure recipes and cleaning guidelines are being followed, preparing kitchen stations for shifts, including preparation of backups, sanitizer bins, and general organization of the kitchen area, cleaning and inspecting kitchen equipment, rotating and storing food supplies according to food safety guidelines and manager’s instruction, following procedures to create a safe work environment for themselves and others, and assisting team members to ensure the best quality of food and cleanliness in the kitchen. Cooks II may be required to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
This opportunity is specifically for candidates currently in the United States who are seeking an extension or transfer of a valid H-2B visa.
Contract Dates: 12/7/2026 - 4/22/2027
WAGE:
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Arapahoe Basin’s hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, and responsibilities. The range listed is just one component of Arapahoe Basin’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.
Hourly pay range: $21.50 - $25.75/hour
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Has at least six (6) months of culinary experience in a fine-dining or high-volume environment at a high-end restaurant, resort, or private club.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Use full range of body motion: bend, twist, kneel, push, pull and lift up to 75 lbs.
Stand and walk for 8+ hours.
Navigate stairs throughout your shift.
Withstand high altitude conditions at all times.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily- reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
You will work almost 100% of the time in a kitchen in a high-altitude environment. Some outside work in a cold and snowy environment is possible on any given day. Most work is performed in a highly trafficked area while working closely with other kitchen employees. Riding a chairlift may be for certain work locations. Use of utensils such as knives, cooking devices such as fryers or cleaning tools such as mops, is frequent.
