WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO
As the Cook you are responsible for preparing and serving meals according to established menus, spreadsheets, and recipes to meet the nutritional needs of residents and staff. You will ensure that all food is prepared safely and efficiently while maintaining required temperature controls, sanitation standards, and quality expectations. You will also complete food preparation for the following day and help maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and cook all food items according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
- Complete food preparation and ingredient setup for the following day's meals.
- Monitor, record, and maintain required food temperatures in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on meals, including taste-testing food items to ensure quality and consistency.
- Demonstrate effective time management to ensure meals are prepared and served on schedule.
- Serve meals to residents and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
- Clean and sanitize all work areas, equipment, and kitchen surfaces in accordance with established health and safety standards.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
- Assist with maintaining an organized and efficient kitchen operation.
QUALIFICATIONS WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Two to three years of experience in cooking in a long-term health care setting
- Food Handlers Certificate
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification, preferred
