Cook/Kitchen Manager

Full time-AM

Pay Range: $17.00-$20.00 DOQ

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Dietary/Food Service Background/training

POSITION SUMMARY:

The cook is responsible for menu planning on chefs choice day, assisting with purchases of food supplies, cooks and serves meals. The cook is responsible for sanitary conditions as required by the WI Department of Health and is knowledgeable on Health Department inspections. Most importantly, the cook is responsible for providing quality meals to the residents of Comforts of Home Senior Living. Knowledge of dietary budgeting and staying with budget is a must. The cook must be flexible, willing to prepare home cooked meals with creativity and resourcefulness. Some direction and instruction to care givers is required.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Prepare menus and make adjustments as needed; seasonal, based on majority preferences, etc.
  • Assist Manager with food orders.
  • Organize, clean and maintain sanitary conditions in the kitchen.
  • Plan for and/or prepare three daily meals and snacks for residents.
  • Maintain knowledge of residents’ special dietary needs or likes/dislikes, food allergies.
  • Instructs Caregivers on proper sanitary regulations.
  • Instructs Caregivers on setting tables, serving residents, clearing dishes, loading and running dishwasher.
  • Stays within set budget on all food orders and purchases.
  • Meet with residents periodically to assess food preferences.
  • Prepare and track guest meals.
  • Communication detailed instructions to staff for evening and weekend meals and baking.
  • Interact with residents and observe food and liquid intake.
  • Work with Manager on food preparation/service for special events.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident’s personal and medical information.

  • Proper sanitary practices, infection control
  • Food preparation and cooking
  • Menu planning
  • First Aid Certification with skills to alleviate choking
  • Communication skills with residents, visitors and the State of Wisconsin Survey Team, co-workers, Management
  • Emergency procedures for flood, fire, power outage, tornado and evacuation.
