Job Description - Coordinator 1, Nutrition Services Ops (Multiple Vacancies)

Location: Food Services Administration \n\nDepartment: Nutr Serv Sch Kitchens \n\nArea:North \n\nContract Months:12 \n\nSalary Range: $75,000.00 \u2013 $95,000.00 \n\nAcademic Year: 26-27 \n\n## JOB SUMMARY\n\nThe Coordinator 1 plays a vital role in supporting the efficient operation of the Nutrition Services Department. The Coordinator 1 Operations position involves leadership and oversight of Team Leads, and Food Service Attendants at multiple school sites. Responsibilities include meeting financial targets, maximizing participation, and managing to the Nutrition Services budget. Executes compliance of Texas Department of Agriculture and USDA regulations related to all Child Nutrition meal programs, as well as all other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Facilitates communication, and provides exceptional customer service to team members, students, parents, and key stakeholders. The Coordinator 1 Operations contributes to the overall effectiveness and success of the department by ensuring smooth coordination and execution of activities.\n\n## MAJOR DUTIES \u0026 RESPONSIBILITIES\n\n1\\. Responsible for leading Team Leads, and FSAs to provide quality child nutrition programs at multiple school sites. \n2\\. Coordinates planning, implementing, and supervising quality nutritious meal programs at multiple school locations. \n3\\. Responsible for meeting financial targets to meet or exceed the annual Nutrition Services budget, and for maximizing participation in all meal programs. \n4\\. Maintains compliance of all meal programs (NSLP, SBP, ASCP, CACFP, SFSP, FFVP) for all federal, state, and local regulatory agency regulations. \n5\\. Executes procedures with staff at campuses to meet or exceed departmental goals and key performance indicators (KPIs). \n6\\. Collaborates with campus administrators to market and implement new child nutrition programs and products.\n\n## MAJOR DUTIES \u0026 RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED\n\n7\\. Provides exceptional customer service to students, parents, team members, administrators, and other key stakeholders. \n8\\. Collaborate with team members to plan and organize meetings, workshops, and events, including scheduling, logistics, and materials preparation. \n9\\. Effectively and enthusiastically communicates with principals, employees, HISD senior leadership team, and the community. \n10 Ensures HACCP guidelines are followed for safety and sanitation at all sites. \n11\\. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.\n\n## EDUCATION\n\nBachelor\u2019s degree \n*Applicants who do not meet education qualifications may be considered if they have a unique combination of education and work experiences that indicate potential for success in this role.\n\n## WORK EXPERIENCE\n\nAt least 5-7 years working in the food service industry. \n*Applicants who do not meet these work experience qualifications may be considered if they have a unique combination of education and work experience that indicate potential for success in this role.\n\n## SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION\n\nMicrosoft Office, SAP, Office Equipment, Vehicle Operations, ServSafe Certification, City of Houston Food Handler Certification, Ability to lead teams and interact with large groups\n\n## LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nAccomplishes the majority of work objectives through the management of direct reports. Provides day-to-day direction to staff, meets schedules and resolves problems. Responsible for assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring application of policies and procedures. Required to meet departmental goals. Provides input to hiring, performance, and budget.\n\n## WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT\n\nWork is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.\n\n## BUDGET AUTHORITY\n\nCompiles and organizes data and figures.\n\n## PROBLEM SOLVING\n\nDecisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.\n\n## IMPACT OF DECISIONS\n\nDecisions have considerable impact to multiple divisions or the organization causing risks or improvements to relationships, significant efficiencies, or delays in operations, and/or significant financial gains or expenses. Errors are serious and difficult to discover, normally involve decisions not subject to detailed review and will result in excessive costs and/or significant project delays.\n\n## COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS\n\nCollaborate and solve problems \u2013 works with others to resolve problems, clarify or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.\n\n## CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS\n\nRegularly assesses and diffuses complex, and escalated customer issues. Takes personal responsibility and accountability for solving systemic customer service problems. Regularly explores alternative and creative solutions to meeting the needs of the customer within HISD\u2019s policies and guidelines.\n\n## WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS\n\nWork involves frequent exposure to unpleasant elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noise, chemicals, etc. \nAbility to carry and/or lift less than 45 pounds.\n\nHouston Independent School District is an equal opportunity employer. \n
