Location: Hattie Mae White \n\nDepartment: Academics People Development \u0026 Eval \n\nArea:District Wide \n\nContract Months:12 \n\nSalary Range: $85,000.00 \u2013 $105,000.00 \n\nAcademic Year: 25-26 \n\n## JOB SUMMARY\n\nThe Professional Development Coordinator is tasked with addressing the growth and capacity-building needs of the Office of Academics team members. This role is responsible for the development and delivery of targeted professional development programs based on the insights from Pulse Survey results, areas of deficiency identified by supervisors, and requests from team members.\n\n## MAJOR DUTIES \u0026 RESPONSIBILITIES\n\n1. Analyze Pulse Survey results, supervisor feedback, and team member requests to identify professional development needs within the Office of Academics. \n2. Develop and implement targeted professional development programs to address identified needs, such as Microsoft Office proficiency, communication best practices, and other functional skills. \n3. Collaborate with experts and departments across the district, including HR, leadership development, and curriculum PD, to facilitate sessions that build capacity and competency. \n \n\n## MAJOR DUTIES \u0026 RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED\n\n4. Create and manage a professional development calendar that aligns with the growth needs of the Office of Academics team members. \n5. Evaluate the effectiveness of professional development initiatives through feedback and assessments, adjusting programs as necessary to meet evolving needs. \n6. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. \n \n\n## EDUCATION\n\nBachelor\u2019s degree \n\n*Applicants who do not meet these education qualifications may be considered if they have a unique combination of education and work experiences that indicate potential for success in this role.\n\n## WORK EXPERIENCE\n\nAt least 5 years working in the district/central office of a large urban school district\n\n*Applicants who do not meet these work experience qualifications may be considered if they have a unique combination of education and work experiences that indicate potential for success in this role.\n\n## SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION\n\nMicrosoft Office\n\nHuman Resources or Organizational Development\n\n## LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nWork Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.\n\n## WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT\n\nWork is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.\n\n## BUDGET AUTHORITY\n\nCompiles and organizes data and figures.\n\n## PROBLEM SOLVING\n\nDecisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.\n\n## IMPACT OF DECISIONS\n\nDecisions have moderate impact to the facility/department or division, causing increased satisfaction or dissatisfaction; producing efficiencies or delays; promoting or inhibiting personal intellectual or professional development; and/or contributing to financial gain or expense. Errors may be serious, usually not subject to direct verification or check, causing losses such as improper cost calculations, overpayment or improper utilization of labor, materials, or equipment. Effect usually confined to the organization itself and is short term.\n\n## COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS\n\nCollaborate and solve problems \u2013 works with others to resolve problems, clarify or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.\n\n## CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS\n\nLeads others in the resolution of highly sensitive and confidential issues on behalf of the department. Acts as a trusted advisor and becomes involved in the customer\u0027s decision-making process including presenting alternatives and information and applying persuasion and negotiation skills in the resolution of problems.\n\nMonitors customer service standards.\n\n## WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS\n\nWork is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.\n\nAbility to carry and/or lift less than 45 pounds.\n\nHouston Independent School District is an equal opportunity employer. \n
