Location: Hattie Mae White \n\nDepartment: Media Relations - Press \n\nArea:District Wide \n\nContract Months:12 \n\nSalary Range: $85,000.00 \u2013 $105,000.00 \n\nAcademic Year: 25-26 \n\n## JOB SUMMARY\n\nThe Communications \u0026 Outreach Coordinator 2 is a versatile, content-driven communications professional who supports multi-platform storytelling and media relations for the District. This role blends strong writing and media coordination with hands-on content creation, including social media, video, still photography, and digital design. This is a fast-paced, high-demand role operating in a real-time communications environment. The position requires strong judgment, adaptability, and the ability to pivot quickly to meet evolving priorities. The ideal candidate can create, capture, and engage all stakeholder groups with compelling content that amplifies District priorities and successes.\n\n## MAJOR DUTIES \u0026 RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nList most important duties first \n1\\. Create and produce content across platforms: social media, web, and video, including writing, photography, short-form video, and digital design. \n2\\. Ideate, plan, and execute engaging content that highlights student achievement, staff impact, and District initiatives across digital platforms. \n3\\. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and departments to align messaging and ensure cohesive communication across media, digital, and family channels. \n4\\. Support development and execution of communications campaigns. \n5\\. Assist in managing and maintaining content calendars across platforms to ensure consistent, high-quality output.\n\n## MAJOR DUTIES \u0026 RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED\n\n6\\. Monitor media coverage and social media trends to inform content development and identify opportunities to amplify District messaging. \n7\\. Support the District\u2019s press office and media relations efforts, including drafting press releases, media statements, briefing materials, and key messages aligned to District priorities. \n8\\. Coordinate with internal teams to capture real-time content at campuses, events, and key moments, ensuring consistent and timely storytelling. \n9\\. Provide project coordination support, ensuring communications deliverables are completed on time and aligned to priorities. \n10\\. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.\n\n## EDUCATION\n\nBachelor\u2019s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field. Experience in education a plus.\n\n## WORK EXPERIENCE\n\nMinimum of 5 years of experience in communications, media, digital content, or a related field.\n\n## SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION\n\nStrong writing and editing skills across formats (press, digital, social) \nDemonstrated experience in creating content for social media platforms, including YouTube \nDemonstrated experience in photography and basic video production/editing \nDemonstrated experience in graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar) \nAbility to translate complex information into clear, engaging content \nStrong organizational and project management skills \nAbility to work in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities \nFamiliarity with media relations and news cycles \nBilingual (English/Spanish) preferred \nExperience with ParentSquare preferred\n\nEquipment \nDigital communications and content creation tools, including laptops, smartphones, and related accessories for real-time content capture and publishing \nPhotography and video equipment, cameras \nEditing and production tools for photo, video, and graphics \nSocial media management and publishing platforms across multiple channels \n\n## LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nWork Leadership. Regularly provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees but does not have formal supervisory responsibility. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues. Most of work time is spent performing many of the same duties they are leading.\n\n## WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT\n\nWork is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent.
