The Coordinator of Service-Learning is a 10-month position that will organize and oversee the creation and implementation of a new service-learning program for the students of Father Ryan in collaboration with the Campus Ministry Team. This program will create opportunities for all students to engage in meaningful service and come discover the joy of service, thereby forming student to become an experience of the living Gospel.
Ideal candidates will have experience and/or expertise in organizing student service opportunities with a focus on meaningful engagement with the poor and marginalized. Further, ideal candidates will focus the service curriculum on inspiring students to desire to serve others, rather than approaching service as a simple requirement or school directive. A personal enthusiasm for service, student formation, and living the Gospel are all critical in this position.
The coordinator will further assist the Campus Ministry Team in nurturing a vibrant faith life among the students by supporting existing programs, creating new formation opportunities, collaborating with the theology department, and being an enthusiastic member of the Father Ryan community.
Specifically, the person in this position:
Works in conjunction with the Theology Department and Director of Campus Ministry to develop, communicate, plan, and implement a vibrant Service-Learning Curriculum.
Develops, plans, and evaluates current ways in which service opportunities are presented to students.
Collaborates with the Director of Houses to coordinate Faith and Service Days.
Develops, coordinates, and plans monthly local service opportunities for all students.
Regularly serves alongside students at service opportunities.
Communicates regularly with non-profit organizations with whom Father Ryan already
partners, including fundraising requests.
Develops a new outreach program to gain new non-profit partners.
Collaborates with the Communications Department in producing materials associated
with service events (digital signage, social media, email blasts, etc.)
Collaborates with various organizations on campus in planning service opportunities
(athletics and student clubs)
Supports Relay for Life and March for Life through attendance at meetings and day-of
attendance and participation
Provides presence at various events outside the regular school day as requested or
assigned
Collaborates to plan and implement the following programs: Alternative Spring Break,
Mission Trips or Service Trips, Special Olympics, Fr. Charles Strobel Service Society,
Room in the Inn on Christmas Eve
Assists the Director of Campus Ministry in planning an effective and meaningful event for Freshman Night and annual class-level retreats
Assists in supervising the Student Section at on-campus football games
Participates in the House System as an active and effective Mentor Group leader
Requirements
The most qualified candidates will have:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field
Experience implementing and/or creating a dynamic service program in a school setting
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in ministry
