Job Description - Corporate Controller


Amtech Organization Summary


Founded in 1981, Amtech Systems is a publicly traded company (Nasdaq: ASYS) supplying essential equipment, services and consumables to the semiconductor industry.  Our Semiconductor Fabrications Solutions (SFS) business provides consumables, parts and services for power semiconductor and mature node semiconductor OEMS.  Our Thermal Process Solutions (TPS) business provides equipment and services for semiconductor advanced packaging applications, electronic assembly and power semiconductor packaging.  The company manufactures products in several factories in the US and China and serves global customers. 


Job Summary:


The Corporate Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations of the company, ensuring compliance with GAAP, IFRS, SEC reporting, and internal controls, especially given the company's publicly traded status and its global presence in the semiconductor industry. This position will play a critical role in driving financial performance, overseeing financial reporting for international subsidiaries, and leading initiatives that enhance financial governance and operational efficiency across multiple jurisdictions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Oversee the preparation and filing of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP and IFRS, ensuring compliance with SEC reporting requirements (10-K, 10-Q, etc.). 

  • Lead the preparation of consolidated financial reports that incorporate all global operations. 

  • Ensure all public financial disclosures and reports meet regulatory standards, including SOX compliance. 

  • Manage accounting activities for international subsidiaries and oversee currency exchange, tax implications, and financial compliance across multiple countries. 

  • Lead and monitor the financial close process, ensuring consistency and accuracy in accounting across global divisions. 

  • Work with internal and external auditors to maintain audit schedules and ensure compliance with global standards. 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements, including SOX 404 compliance. 

  • Oversee risk management processes and ensure global operations adhere to all applicable tax, legal, and regulatory requirements. 

  • Collaborate with legal and tax teams to ensure all operations comply with international, federal, and local tax laws. 

  • Lead the annual corporate budgeting process, developing financial forecasts and providing variance analysis for business units worldwide. 

  • Support executive management by providing financial insights and guidance for decision-making, focusing on cost controls, revenue growth, and profitability in global markets. 

  • Analyze trends in the semiconductor industry to support proactive financial planning, including capex, inventory management, and R&D expenses. 

  • Provide strategic recommendations for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities, joint ventures, and other corporate finance initiatives. 

  • Work with the CFO and executive team to develop and execute long-term financial strategies that support the company’s global expansion, especially in emerging markets. 

  • Analyze market trends, currency risks, and industry regulations to optimize financial performance across global regions. 


Qualifications:


Required Education & Experience:



  •  Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent required. Master’s in business administration (MBA) preferred. 

  • 8+ years of progressive financial and accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in a publicly traded company. Experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and corporate restructuring preferred. 

  • Proven expertise in SEC reporting, SOX compliance, and international accounting standards (IFRS and GAAP). 

  • Experience managing global accounting operations, including working with international subsidiaries and handling currency exchange, tax, and legal regulations across multiple jurisdictions. 

  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, particularly as they relate to publicly traded companies and international operations. Fluency in multiple languages or experience working in cross-cultural environments preferred. 

  • Familiarity with semiconductor supply chain dynamics, capital investments, and R&D cycles. 


Skills & Competencies:



  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. 

  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Experience in dealing with multiple currencies and foreign currency translations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication to interact with key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead other across divisions.

  • Expert math skills, with the ability to interpret and manage large data sets to present to key stakeholders and reporting agencies. 

  • Expert in Microsoft Office Suite products, especially Excel functions.

  • Advanced proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, D365, OneStream.) preferred.
