Job Description - Corporate Counsel

About Us

At Gifthealth, we're revolutionizing the way people experience healthcare by simplifying the process of managing prescriptions and health services. Our mission is to provide a seamless, personalized, and efficient healthcare experience for all our customers. We're a dynamic, innovative, and customer-centric company dedicated to making a positive impact on people's lives.

Position Overview

We’re seeking a business-minded and healthcare-savvy Corporate Counsel to join our team. In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor across the organization, providing legal guidance on a wide range of matters with a focus on pharmacy operations, healthcare compliance, and regulatory risk.  This is a unique opportunity to be an early legal hire and help shape the legal function at a fast-growing healthtech company.

If you're passionate about improving healthcare and thrive in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a hybrid position. Candidates must have an active license to practice law in the state of Ohio and should be able to commute or travel to our Columbus, Ohio offices as needed to meet business needs. While much of the work can be performed remotely, periodic in-person presence is expected to support collaboration, key meetings or initiatives.

How You’ll Help Us Improve Healthcare

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel on healthcare, pharmacy, and regulatory issues (e.g., HIPAA, fraud and abuse laws, PBM relationships, state pharmacy board requirements)

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts including commercial agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, and partnership deals

  • Advise cross-functional teams on compliance obligations and risk mitigation strategies

  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may impact operations and proactively update policies as needed

  • Collaborate with external counsel on complex matters or litigation, as required

  • Support corporate governance, employment law matters, and internal policy development

  • Help build scalable processes for legal review, contract management, and compliance training

A Few Things About You

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership (preferably Ohio, or ability to obtain in-house counsel registration)

  • 4–6 years of relevant legal experience, with at least 2+ years in-house preferred

  • Exposure to pharmacy operations, healthcare regulations, or life sciences.  Proven experience in pharmaceutical and pharmacy contracting preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and other healthcare-related regulatory frameworks.  Familiarity with URAC, NAPB, and GMP regulatory standards preferred.

  • Experience reviewing quality agreements and contract management.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — ability to work cross-functionally and translate legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and excited to build systems from the ground up

  • Openness to leveraging AI technologies to enhance operational efficiency

Our Offer To Ensure You Choose Gifthealth

  • Be part of a mission-driven company transforming the pharmacy experience

  • Work alongside passionate, collaborative, and innovative teammates

  • Opportunity to shape legal strategy and build foundational infrastructure

  • Competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.

  • 401(k) with company match that is immediately vested.

  • Generous paid time off and flexible work environment.

  • Ongoing professional development and career growth opportunities.

Gifthealth is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
