Echodyne is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Corporate Counsel to join our Legal & Compliance team supporting our rapidly growing U.S. Public Sector business, alongside our expanding domestic and international commercial operations.

This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies that serve both national security missions and commercial innovation, contributing directly to programs that make a global impact.

The ideal candidate is a pragmatic, hands-on attorney who thrives in a small, fast-moving team environment and is comfortable managing a diverse portfolio of legal responsibilities. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to executives and business leaders, balancing thoughtful risk management with a practical, business-enabling approach.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Negotiate, draft, and review a wide range of government and commercial contracts, including technology development, manufacturing, supply, SaaS, and professional services agreements.

  • Provide expert guidance on Federal, State, and Local government contracting, including compliance with FAR, DFARS, and related procurement regulations.

  • Support proposal development, RFP responses, and subcontract management across both defense and commercial programs and in domestic and international markets.

  • Advise on intellectual property, data rights, export controls (ITAR/EAR), and other regulatory frameworks relevant to aerospace and defense transactions.

  • Partner with sales, supply chain, engineering, and program management teams to drive business growth while managing contractual and regulatory risks.

  • Develop and refine contract templates, playbooks, and training materials to support scalable business practices.

  • Act as a strategic legal partner, providing practical advice that balances compliance with business agility.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant legal experience, including 5+ years focused on U.S. Federal and defense contracting, preferably combined with commercial transaction experience.

  • Deep understanding of FAR, DFARS, and other public procurement frameworks.

  • Experience supporting dual-use or mixed commercial and government contracting portfolios in the aerospace, defense, or advanced technology sectors.

  • Proven ability to negotiate complex agreements, including teaming, licensing, and manufacturing arrangements.

  • U.S. Person status required due to the nature of the work.

DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with export controls (ITAR/EAR), and supply chain compliance.

  • Strong working knowledge of intellectual property, data rights, and regulatory regimes impacting defense and commercial technology.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from start to finish.

  • A roll-up-your-sleeves mentality and enthusiasm for tackling a variety of legal challenges in a lean, high-performing team.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and judgment, with a pragmatic approach to balancing legal risk and business goals.

Echodyne’s technology is export controlled by the U.S. Government and we must evaluate an applicant’s eligibility to handle export-controlled information or obtain required Government authorizations.  Therefore, we will ask you as part of the application process to identify whether you are a U.S. Citizen or green card holder, or have asylum/refugee status in the U.S.
