The Impact You Will Make

The Corporate Counsel - Litigation provides strategic legal support focused on regulatory compliance and operational matters across departments such as Compliance, HR, and Business Development. Key responsibilities include advising on legal risks, implementing compliance policies, monitoring regulatory changes, and managing complaints and interactions with regulators. The role also supports employment law matters—including investigations, performance issues, and terminations—and assists in managing litigation and agency responses (e.g., EEOC, DOL). Additionally, Corporate Counsel partners with internal stakeholders and external counsel to mitigate legal risks related to liability claims, torts, and commercial disputes, while contributing to policy development and training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the operational leadership team on legal, regulatory and employment matters.
  • Manage the Company’s litigation docket, including general liability, commercial disputes, employment, personal injury, torts, investigations, and other dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Work closely with internal and external claims management professionals.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the Company’s business, values, and regulatory environment to support its objectives in a legally sound, practical, and responsible manner.
  • Advise internal teams, including Operations, Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, and Compliance on various legal issues.
  • Deliver practical, actionable legal advice across business function.
  • Develop litigation strategy, including playbooks and guiding philosophy.
  • Conduct risk analyses and draft early case assessments.
  • Manage pre-suit investigations, including document review and witness interviews.
  • Collaborate with risk management to maximize insurance coverage.
  • Engage and manage outside counsel, including litigation budgeting and cost control.
  • Maintain timely litigation reporting and develop metrics to enhance reporting processes.
  • Develop and implement internal policies and trainings to reduce third-party claim exposure.
  • Uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing required.
  • 10+ years of relevant litigation experience, including in-house counsel and/or law firm practice.
  • Proven ability to manage complex litigation and dispute resolution matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong knowledge of general liability, tort, commercial disputes, and regulatory matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop litigation strategy and provide practical, business-focused legal advice.
  • Familiarity with insurance coverage issues and claims handling practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting policies and reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset and ability to build trusted relationships across departments.
  • Proven ability to manage outside counsel, control litigation costs, and track key metrics.
  • High level of integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to ethical legal practice.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience developing and delivering internal legal trainings is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • On-site at our Altamonte Springs, FL Support Center, M-F required.
