Description

The Corporate Director of Patient Access is expected to demonstrate, through plans and actions a consistent standard of excellence to which all departmental work is expected to conform. Such a standard should be based on establishing and maintaining a constancy of purpose, focusing on continuous improvement within the Directors area of influence, and delivering the highest degree of quality service possible. Critical responsibilities include achievement of annual and periodic goals for significant statistical indicators of Patient Access performance for appointment scheduling, pre-registration, registration/admission, financial counseling and ancillary registration (Mammography, Transport, Centra Lab). Responsibilities will consist of the operational management of the Department, creating a clear, simple customer-centered vision, while consistently searching for and applying the best practice ideas. This position will strive to motivate and energize employees, consistently execute new ideas, and continually strive to improve the timeliness, quality, and accuracy of the patient access process. Other responsibilities include adherence to all state and federal regulations, insurance verification including pre-authorization, time of service collection, Centra Lab registration and system maintenance and optimization.

Responsibilities

Successfully supports or further develops process by which scheduled patients are preregistered prior to the scheduled appointment to ensure accuracy and completeness of information with an emphasis on customer service.

Has the authority to negotiate rates and premiums, bind coverage, approve policies, make operations changes that impact claims and insurance programs, approve authorize settlements and/ or negotiate claims. Additionally, will retain and supervise defense counsel, coordinate organization's response to discovery requests, develop standards for selection and evaluation of outside service providers relating to claims, set reserves (expense and indemnity) attend and participate in mediations, arbitrations and settlement conferences, ensure that organization's administration and executive management are kept informed on high exposure cases, aggregate claims experience, and issues impacting the risk financing program. Ensures compliance with all aspects MMSEA federal reporting. Responsible for the notification of carriers of actual or potential claims, establishing and maintaining claim files, and coordinating investigations.

Establishes, promotes and develops on-going patient access training and education programs for existing and new employees that supports job training and regulatory requirement education.

Manages enterprise scheduling according to best practices and develops further collaboration with internal and external areas to improve efficiency and revenue cycle efforts.

Ensures that all required pre-authorizations and/or pre-certifications are obtained according to third party requirements.



Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in business related field

Preferred Education: Master's degree in business related field

 

Salary Range: $111,860 - $178,975
