Description
The Corporate Giving Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of approximately 65 corporate prospects and donors contributing $600,000 annually and supporting the organization’s efforts to raise approximately $1.6 million annually from corporate and foundation funders.
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives & Institutional Giving, this position collaborates with the larger Development team, as well as departments and program leaders from across the organization. This full-time position is responsible for supporting the organization’s efforts to engage corporate prospects and donors, with an emphasis on cultivating relationships leading to commitments of $5,000+ and increasing corporate engagement in sponsorships, employee volunteering, employee giving, and strategic partnerships.
The Corporate Giving Officer will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors and prospects, manage and support initiatives related to corporate engagement, and collaborate closely with other teams to increase corporate giving and engagement. A personal commitment to and passion for animals and animal welfare is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 65 corporate funders and partners with a focus on cultivating their giving and engagement through:
- Renewed and increased sponsorships
- Giving from multiple departments
- Employee engagement
- In-kind donations
- Cause marketing and strategic partnerships
- Pro bono work
- Act as the lead fundraiser driving revenue from corporate funders. This revenue line is anticipated to contribute at least $600,000 as of FY26, with potential for increased giving.
- Develop and implement a corporate giving strategy including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
- Manage the Corporate Leadership Council (CLC), a high-level advisory group of business leaders who support corporate fundraising and help build connections within their professional networks. This includes supporting CLC member recruitment, scheduling the quarterly meetings and setting agendas, cultivating and stewarding prospective and existing CLC members, and coordinating fundraising strategies.
- Identify and cultivate prospective corporate funders (both new and lapsed)
- Coordinates all internal and external aspects of employee engagement events including managing ongoing communications, as well as overseeing and leading day-of event execution.
- Support corporate sponsor benefits fulfillment for key events including Holiday Windows, Adoptions Promotion Events, and galas.
- Prepare and submit compelling letters of inquiry, proposals, and funding/stewardship reports to corporate funders and prospects.
What you would be doing right now:
Collaborative Internal Partnerships
- Collaborate across the Development team, contributing to integrated strategies that support special events, annual fund, foundation relations, and donor communications.
- Partner with the Annual Fund team to maximize corporate matching gift opportunities and integrate them into donor engagement campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Development Operations team to manage pipelines, track funding deliverables, and report on progress toward goals.
- Partner with the Community Engagement team to facilitate meaningful engagement opportunities for corporate groups, including volunteer days and team-building experiences that strengthen connections to our mission.
- Work closely with Marketing and Communications to recognize corporate partners through digital channels, printed materials, events, and storytelling that highlights their impact on animals and the community.
Donor Stewardship & Engagement
- Prepare donor briefings and background materials to support executive and board-level meetings with current and prospective corporate partners.
- Engage senior leadership, board members, program directors, and key staff in donor cultivation and stewardship strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Cultivate and steward corporate donors by leveraging volunteer and other team/employee engagement opportunities, site visits (including the Mission Campus or to offsite programs, including our Mobile Vaccine Clinics), special events, and tailored donor engagement experiences.
- Represent the SF SPCA at community events, donor functions, and industry networking opportunities as a key ambassador of our mission and programs.
General
- Develop a deep understanding of the SF SPCA’s programs—including veterinary care, shelter services, community medicine, and advocacy initiatives—to communicate impact and align funding priorities.
- Monitor local and national business trends and news, identifying new corporate prospects and staying current on developments related to existing supporters.
- Maintain accurate records in Raiser’s Edge, tracking proposals, activity history, and strategic next steps to ensure effective cultivation and stewardship.
- Contribute to grant writing tools and tracking systems, supporting the ongoing development and maintenance of shared language, templates, and funder records.
- Support additional fundraising efforts as needed, contributing to a collaborative, mission-driven Development team committed to expanding access to care for animals and their guardians.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- At least 5 years of front-line fundraising experience
- Experience in corporate sponsorships/partnerships in a nonprofit setting
- Strong interpersonal and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Previous experience in donor relations and in an external-facing role.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with donor management software, e.g. Raiser’s Edge, is preferred.
Salary and Benefits:
The starting salary for this position depends on the length and breadth of experience. The expected range is $105,000 - $115,000.
