Summary/Objective
This position acts as the facilitator to build, organize, implement, and maintain a Food Safety Culture program that is effective across our organization. Food safety culture is one of our foundational values. This role influences people’s behavior to serve and continuously improve Food Safety and Quality.
Essential Functions

A. Food Safety Management: 60%
· Creating and implementing an effective World Class Food safety culture program across the SC USA facilities and Rogue Creamery by working with cross-functional teams.
· Making sure that the programs created keep people, customers, and employees in mind.
· Defining KPIs to make sure food safety is a foundational value.
· Improving food safety by influencing the thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors of people.
· Coordinate and direct cross-functional teams to make sure employee expectations are clear and employees know what to do to produce safe food.
· Ensuring employees have the right knowledge and skill set through training and education by continuous communication with the operations and quality teams.
· Creating content for food safety training and coordinating training activities.
· Involving management of food safety metrics and utilizing positive and negative reinforcement.
· Implementing proven behavioral science principles in achieving safe food.
· Working closely with the Quality and Plant Managers to identify bottlenecks that may result in food safety and quality issues on the floor.
· Working with Plant Managers and QA Managers to implement 6 main steps of designing the food safety culture continuous improvement model:
1. Setting food safety behavior expectations
2. Training and educating
3. Communicating food safety frequently, using modern communication techniques
4. Establishing effective and achievable food safety goals
5. Measuring, monitoring, and reviewing conditions, processes, knowledge, and behavior using digitized methods
6. Discussing effects of consequences (positive/negative reinforcement) on behavior
· Identifying gaps in our system and creating a roadmap to the Food Safety .
· Identifying, coordinating, and implementing any other activity that contributes to improving food safety and quality culture among employees.
B. Centralized Quality Department activities: 40%
· Product releases for all facilities.
· Food Safety and Quality reporting including annual, quarterly, and monthly Groupe reports, Quality Cost report, monthly operations report, President’s report, category reports and other as assigned.
· Respond to customer document requests such as issuing COA’s, providing audit reports, certificates, etc.
· Assist in QA Managers, Quality Systems Manager, and the Director during Food Safety and Quality Weeks, and related events. Promote improvement of food safety culture through those events.
· Organize new employee training, annual employee training through a centralized external training program.
· Acts as a backup for the Quality Systems Manager.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibility but leads change management at all facilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an office environment as well as on the production floor including being occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The employee is exposed to a humid and wet environment at times and could also be exposed to cold conditions in the coolers.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use fingers to type. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must occasionally lift or move items up to and over 50 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and core hours of work and days are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
This position requires up to 50% travel.
Required Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, or a science-based area of study with a focus on microbiology
· Food safety background/experience
· Organizational behavior/Behavioral science background
· Capability to influence others
· Good communication and presentation skills
· Creative, ethical and exhibits strong people skills
· Can-do attitude
· Ability to lead and implement change
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Eligible to work in USA.
Food Safety and Product Quality
This position is responsible for supporting the food safety management system and for communicating food safety issues to the Quality Department.
