The ideal candidate brings at least 2 years of progressive physical security experience, combining a strong command presence with exceptional customer service, technical proficiency, and calm de-escalation skills. In this role, you will serve as both the primary welcoming face of the facility and a contingency lead during safety or emergency situations.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccess Control & Lobby Management

  • Primary Entrance Security: Maintain a visible security presence to deter unauthorized access, verify credentials for employees, contractors, and visitors, and issue badges following strict check-in/check-out procedures.
  • Deliveries & Visitor Logging: Maintain precise logs for all visitors, vendor access, and incoming deliveries.
  • Customer Service: Assist employees and visitors in a calm, tactful, and courteous manner, providing directions and answering inquiries regarding building access and security policies.

Monitoring & Technical Operations

  • Systems Oversight: Observe computer-based alarm systems, perform video reviews, and monitor security cameras—with emphasis on Genetec security platforms.
  • Digital Scans & Tools: Utilize TrackTik on company-provided smartphones and laptops for post scans, activity logging, and reporting.

  • Contingency Lead: Assist with emergency evacuations, fire alarms, and security incidents. Maintain full familiarity with facility layouts, alarm zones, and emergency equipment locations.
  • Hazard Reporting: Identify and immediately report maintenance issues, safety risks, or fire hazards to the Real Estate & Workplace Services (REWS) team for quick escalation and resolution.

De-Escalation & Incident Management

  • De-Escalation & Policy: Comfortably de-escalate interactions with unauthorized individuals using calm communication. Maintain a strict "no hands" policy unless there is an imminent physical threat to self or others (observe and report).
  • Emergency Dispatch: Coordinate directly with local law enforcement (911) or emergency responders when necessary.

Reporting & Shift Pass-Down

  • Documentation: Author clear, detailed, and accurate Daily Activity Reports (DAR), pass-down notes, and incident reports on company computers/smartphones detailing causes, actions, and responses.
  • Compliance & Professionalism: Adhere strictly to post orders, client escalation protocols, and site-specific guidelines (including strict adherence to professional phone/email use while on post).

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive Pay: $34.00 – $35.00/hour with daily overtime structure.
  • Healthcare: Health, Dental, and Vision coverage (Kaiser Permanente & Omaha) available after 90 days.
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with a 4% company match.
  • Perks: Weekly pay and time-and-a-half holiday pay.

Job Type: Full-time

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of progressive responsibility and directly related experience in physical or site security.
  • Certifications & Licenses:
  • Active California BSIS Guard Card (or PPSO compliant within 90 days).
  • Valid California Driver’s License (CADL).
  • Current First Aid / CPR / AED certification.
  • Formal De-Escalation training/certification preferred.
  • Legal & Screening: U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Residency; no felony adjudications or convictions; ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug test.
