Corrosion Technologist

Aethon Energy Operating LLC (“Aethon”) is seeking a field-based Corrosion Technologist responsible for building inspection scopes of work for pad sites, pipelines and facilities for the company’s Haynesville Play in East Texas and North Louisiana. In addition, the successful candidate should be willing to aid in designing, testing, inspecting, calibrating and maintaining cathodic protection systems, and performing field surveys on natural gas pipelines & storage tanks. The successful candidate will be based in East Texas or North Louisiana and report to the Asset Integrity & Maintenance Lead in Dallas.

• Work with engineers and facility personnel to build risk-based scopes of work for non-destructive testing/inspections of all Aethon facilities and manage contractors throughout the duration of each inspection job
• Work with engineers to develop and maintain a rotating pad site inspection scope based on risk and new construction to mitigate spills and leaks
• Work with engineers to build in-line inspection pigging operations and manage contractors throughout the duration of the job
• Aid in the management of annual pressure safety valve inspections
• Work with engineers to determine ideal cathodic protection system designs and oversee construction & installation of CP systems for pipelines
• Have working knowledge of cathodic protection (CP) and have a willingness to aid in building annual inspection scopes, reviewing completed inspections, and implementing appropriate corrective action
• Actively participate in partnership safety programs, policies, procedures, and initiatives

Education & Work Experience:

• High school diploma and Associates Degree in Instrumentation or other relevant discipline
• Requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent work experience
• Working knowledge of gas transmission and distribution pipeline system operations
• Working knowledge of non-destructive techniques/methods
• Willingness to pursue API510 and API570 certifications
• Basic understanding of pipe coating, chemistry, electronics, and metallurgy
• Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints and applicable manuals

Personal & Soft Skills:

• Provide accurate written and electronic reporting

• Proficient use of computers to include MS Office Suite (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint)
• Experience with e-Maint considered an asset

Physical & Other Requirements:

• Must be eligible to work in the United States and have a valid driver’s license
• Subject to call-outs to respond to operational issues and emergencies after working hours, at night, and on weekends or holidays
• Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs with or without assistance
