Job Summary:

Fouts Bros Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Accountant to join our team. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs, preparing regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs, and providing management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up systems and processes for the costing function, including the full range of Cost Accounting activities.

• Prepare and provide analysis of cost variance.

• Work closely with Supply Chain to provide support relating to cost-related matters.

• Conduct rotational inventory audits (physical stock count).

• Assist with month-end close activities, including preparation of manufacturing variances, allocations of costs across multiple business units and supporting analysis.

• Participate in the preparation of the annual operating budget, including standard product pricing and cost development, budgeted variances, cost center budgeting, headcount requirements, volume analysis, and raw material pricing analysis.

• Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effects on cost.

• Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures.

• Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.

Cost Accountant

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• CMA or APICS certification preferred.

• 0-5+ years of accounting experience with some cost knowledge.

• Experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and inventory flow.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of plant operations and strong working relationships with both plant management and plant finance personnel.

• Experience with Cost Accounting within an ERP, specifically within Microsoft Dynamics AX.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to conduct physical inventory counts and cycle counts.

• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.

Location:

This position is based in Milledgeville, Georgia. This is an in-person position, not remote.
