Our client is an established industrial and engineering manufacturing organization serving the aerospace industry and other highly complex sectors. Located in Avon, OH.

Cost Accountant Role

The Cost Accountant provides crucial financial oversight and analytical support to manufacturing, supply chain, and business development operations. This role exists to analyze product costing structure, track job profitability, and partner with cross-functional leaders to drive data-driven operational decisions across the facility.

Cost Accountant Responsibilities

• Analyze current product costs, manufacturing variances, and inventory valuation metrics

• Evaluate job profitability and cost of goods sold for complex manufacturing operations

• Partner with cross-functional operational and supply chain teams to identify cost-saving opportunities

• Assist in month-end financial closing activities related to inventory and cost accounting

• Prepare detailed variance analysis reports explaining material, labor, and overhead differences

• Maintain standard cost systems and update labor and routing rates periodically

• Monitor work-in-progress inventory levels and conduct periodic physical inventory audits

• Perform margin analysis on new business development proposals and commercial quotes

• Support site management with operational budgeting, forecasting, and key performance metric tracking

Cost Accountant Reporting Relationships

This position reports directly to the Site Controller and has no direct reports.

About You

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Possess hands-on cost accounting experience within a manufacturing or production environment

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory management

• Exhibit proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and advanced Microsoft Excel functions

• Display sharp analytical capabilities to interpret complex financial data and operational trends

• Maintain excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across cross-functional departments

• Prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic operational environment

• Show strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy in financial reporting
