ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive.
The omission of a specific duty or responsibility will not preclude it from the position.
1. Oversees the input and analysis of manufacturing scrap.
2. Assists in preparation of monthly and quarterly management reports, financial statements and the annual Business Plan.
3. Completes monthly closing activity related to WIP inventory and manufacturing spending and related general ledger maintenance including journal entries.
4. Analyzes scrap trends on a weekly basis and investigates and reports issues to manufacturing and plant
accounting.
5. Manage monthly WIP physical inventory and in semiannual physical inventories.
6. Prepares monthly WIP physical inventory reconciliation with manufacturing leads and/or supervisors.
7. Reviews manufacturing work orders for completeness and closure.
8. Prepares monthly reports of manufacturing spending variances for direct and indirect departments.
9. Ongoing review of Bill of Materials and changes thereof to ensure accuracy in plant operations and inventory
valuation.
10.Participates in special projects assigned by the Cost Accounting Manager and/or Plant Accountant.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
1. Understanding of financial reporting and the required statements and supporting ledgers.
2. Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and cost accounting, particularly in a manufacturing environment.
3. Working knowledge of inventory control procedures.
4. Proficient in the use of personal computers and spreadsheet software, particularly Excel.
5. Strong analytical skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
2+ to 5 years of experience
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Accounting or related area, 2-4 years experience with preferably 1 year of cost accounting in a manufacturing environment or equivalent.
MBA and/or CPA/CMA preferred.
This position also requires demonstrated knowledge of computers, spreadsheet and word processing software.
The incumbent must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the duties and responsibilities.
