Costume Assistant

Position: Costume Assistant
Location: Hale Centre Theatre
Job Type: Full-Time & Part-Time

Hale Centre Theatre is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Costume Assistant to support our Costume Designer and costume team in bringing each production to life. This role is central to the costume build process–helping organize, track, and maintain all show information as the designer moves between productions.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the Costume Designer from pre-production through opening night
• Maintain show paperwork, budgets, costume tracking, and fitting documentation
• Assist with fittings, fabric swatching, sourcing materials, and organizing the show
• Create fabric maps and tech packs, as needed
• Label, maintain, and track costumes, racks, and show bins
• Pull costumes for rehearsals and provide support during tech and dress rehearsals
• Attend select production meetings and relay important costume information
• Work flexible hours during tech weeks
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs

Education, Experience and Skills

• Experience in costume construction, design, or fashion assisting in theatre or film
• Recommended: knowledge of stitching, alterations, and costume construction
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Clear communication skills and confidence in asking questions
• Ability to manage information independently and support the team in a fast-paced environment
• Proactive, hands-on attitude and willingness to jump in wherever needed

Compensation commensurate with experience. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, and qualification.
