Court Certified Staff Interpreter

Primary Goal: Provide interpreting services for local courts and legal entities. 

Responsibilities: 

• Interpret within the legal and court setting, especially for , jury trials, hearings, and depositions.
• Provide onsite and remote interpreting in consecutive or simultaneous modalities,
• Mentor/supervise and/or provide shadowing to help new interpreters for all languages.
• Communicate with court clients effectively to make sure the trials are going to take place with the spirit of maximizing the resources of the court clients. 
• Provide mentoring support specifically on “Legal Interpreting” (Legal lessons 101, The Civil Court, The Trial) to interpreters looking to become court certified
• Maintain a professional relationship with judges, bailiffs, sheriffs, and court staff.
• If requested, assist with other sectors of appointments, such as medical, educational, etc.
• Other duties as assigned

Required Minimum Education and Experience:

• State Interpreter Certification within six months of hire
• Simultaneous interpreting skills
• Knowledge of national standards of practice and codes of ethics
• Experience with Google Docs and Apple/Mac Operating System preferred
• Authorized to legally work for any employer in the United States
• Willingness to submit to any requested background checks
• Fluent in English
