Cover Machine Operator

Job Summary:

The Cover Machine Operator is responsible for operating equipment that applies the outer rubber cover to hoses in the final stages of the manufacturing process. This role ensures proper adhesion, uniformity, and thickness of the rubber cover, while maintaining production efficiency and product quality in compliance with safety standards.

Schedule:

• 6:00AM - 2:30pm Monday through Friday

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and monitor the cover machine to apply outer rubber layers to hose assemblies.
• Ensure proper rubber compound and cover thickness are applied according to product specifications and work orders.
• Continuously inspect the product for surface defects, uniformity, and proper coverage.
• Adjust machine settings as needed to maintain consistent product quality and minimize waste.
• Coordinate with the Tuber and Braider operators to ensure smooth workflow through all stages of hose construction.
• Accurately complete production records, labeling, and lot tracking documentation.
• Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of the cover machine to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation, supporting 5S and housekeeping standards.
• Assist in training new operators or supporting other areas of production as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to moving machinery, hot rubber, noise, and industrial materials.
• PPE required, including gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
• Standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret production work orders and specification sheets.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a hot or noisy environment.
• Willingness to work various shifts, including overtime and weekends as needed.
