Company Overview

Delmar Systems, Inc., a global leader in temporary and permanent offshore mooring solutions, is currently seeking a dependable and safety-oriented Crane Operator / Rigger to support operations at its Fourchon Facility. This role is essential to supporting offshore equipment handling, rigging, and yard readiness for marine and energy industry projects.

Position Summary

The Crane Operator / Rigger is responsible for operating cranes and forklifts to move, stage, and maintain heavy equipment, along with executing safe and effective rigging procedures. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a high-paced yard environment.

This position follows a 14/7 rotational schedule consisting of 7 day shifts, 7 night shifts, and 7 days off.
Candidates must have reliable transportation and housing, as no accommodations are provided at the Fourchon facility.

Key Responsibilities

Crane & Forklift Operations

  • Operate cranes and forklifts to safely lift, position, and move offshore equipment and heavy materials.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and routine equipment maintenance.
  • Understand and apply load chart information and calculate safe load limits.
  • Maintain full control of loads and execute all lifts using approved methods and equipment.

Rigging Duties

  • Select and inspect appropriate rigging gear such as slings, shackles, chains, and hooks.
  • Properly secure, maneuver, and detach loads in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Set, align, and level heavy machinery and components for deployment or storage.
  • Disassemble rigging setups and inspect equipment post-use.
  • Use hand signals and verbal communication to coordinate crane and rigging movements.

Facility & Equipment Maintenance

  • Support yard operations by staging, organizing, and maintaining equipment used in offshore deployments.
  • Perform inspections and light maintenance of rigging and lifting gear.
  • Assist in setting up and tearing down job equipment as required.
  • Keep work areas clean, safe, and compliant with company standards.

Safety & Compliance

  • Comply with Delmar Systems and OSHA safety standards and procedures.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, job safety analyses (JSAs), and toolbox talks.
  • Immediately report any safety concerns, equipment deficiencies, or near misses.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, logs, and incident reports.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, riggers, signalers, and operations personnel.
  • Clearly communicate load plans and task progress.
  • Follow all instructions and procedures with precision and attention to detail.

Requirements

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in crane operations or rigging in industrial or offshore environments.
  • Valid crane and/or forklift operator certification preferred (or willingness to obtain through Delmar’s training program).
  • Strong working knowledge of rigging techniques, lifting procedures, and safe equipment operation.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and industry-specific safety regulations.
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting 50 lbs, working at heights, and performing labor-intensive tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent hearing and vision (with or without corrective aids).
  • Must have reliable housing and transportation within commuting distance, as no accommodations are provided at the Fourchon facility.
  • Must be able to work a 14/7 rotation: 7 days, 7 nights, 7 off.

Work Conditions

  • Outdoor industrial yard environment with exposure to noise, weather, and heavy machinery.
  • Required use of PPE at all times.
  • Rotating schedule includes 12-hour day and night shifts, with extended hours as needed to support operational demands.
