Crate Builder

Microwave Techniques is searching for a Crate Builder in our Gorham, Maine location.

What will you do in this role?

• Build and assemble crates and pallets using woodworking hand tools and power tools.
• Reads shipping notices, and engineering drawings, and assess product to determine size and shape of crate/container, materials to be used, and types of supports and braces to be used. 
• Lays out dimensions on materials with ruler, measuring tape, and pencil. 
• Saws materials to size, using handsaws and powered saws. 
• Assembles materials, using nailing or stapling machine, screws, bolts, glue, and hand tools. 
• Package and prepare our large industrial equipment for shipment 
• Move crates within the designated shipping area.
• Pack and secure parts in pallets and crates
• Loads product onto trucks, utilizing a forklift. Coordinates with shipping and receiving
• Ensure materials are well-stocked and maintain a clean workspace
• Work independently and as part of a team 
• Follow safety guidelines and complete essential safety training
• Work within production as needed

What do you need to be successful?

• 5+ years crating/carpentry/related skill set
• High School Diploma or GED required/highly preferred
• Two years shop experience helpful but not necessary
• Use our laser marking equipment, operate a radial arm drill and band saw, and participate in overall warehouse tasks
• Applied knowledge of math and measurement skills.
• Safely use various hand tools, pneumatic hammer and miter saw
• Ability to drive forklift and be able to be certified
• Ability to recognize and deal with priorities. 
• Perform duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision.
• Ability to maintain regular work hours. 
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. 
• Ability to stand, kneel and sit for long periods of time

The shift available in Gorham, ME is Monday through Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm or 7:00am – 3:30pm. Safety shoes and glasses are required in production.
