JOB TITLE: Credentialing Specialist/Medical Records Clerk
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 7:30AM-4:00PM, 32-40 hours per week at discretion of supervisor
REQUIREMENTS:
1-3 years of experience
High school diploma or GED
Bachelors degree in health and/or business strongly preferred
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Processes and monitors initial and renewal applications for professional staff appointments and clinical privileges. Communicates with applicants and clinical department administrators; prepares and distributes information and applications for professional staff appointment and clinical privileges; collects applications and all required documentation; enters information into the database; and performs primary source verifications. Also maintains accurate and current files and databases; participates in audits performed by regulatory and accrediting agencies, Department of Health, managed care organizations, and others; and functions as liaison, advisor and resource person for professional staff providers, department administrators, and other personnel. Responsible for physician peer to peer review.
Under direct supervision, assembles and maintains complete medical records according to established procedures. Files and retrieves patient records; prepares new files; may open and distribute mail. Organizes and evaluates patient medical records. Reviews medical records for accuracy and completeness. Responsible for filing and retrieving medical records.
