Crew Member/ General Applicator
Crew members are primarily responsible for working with crew leaders to install erosion and sediment controls (e.g. silt fence, inlet protection) that are commonly used as Best Management Practices (BMPs) at construction sites. In a General Applicator role, you will be working with the Hydroseeding team in the application process.
Crew Member/ General Applicator Responsibilities & Duties
- Following safety protocols and regulatory guidelines
- Help maintain equipment
- Other duties as assigned
Crew Member/ General Applicator Qualifications & Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test
- Basic math skills
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Willingness to work outdoors
- Flexibility to travel out of town
- work in various positions, including but not limited to walking, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods; and being able to lift to 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout an assigned workday

It all started back in 2004, with two brothers who were looking for a better, greener way to handle stormwater runoff in the construction industry and subsequently protect our waterways. Almost two decades later, SpreadRite has evolved and grown, but we are still an environmental company dedicated to serving contractors, engineers, environmental groups, municipalities and owners, while honoring the vital ecosystems that surround us.
Compliance has always been a priority, but the SpreadRite approach adds another layer, using out-of-the-box thinking and methodologies to create solutions that really work in the field. From analysis to design and installation, we manage the entire process.
SpreadRite employs multiple project managers, civil engineers, agronomists, experienced operators and foremen spread over Alabama, Georgia and the Florida panhandle. Over the years, we’ve built a level of trust with our customer relationships that has allowed us to work for the same folks time and time again. While our work focuses primarily on the Southeast, we have provided services in 11 states.
PROTECTING OUR WATER
Water is considered a renewable resource because it’s recycled—via evaporation and rain— in a relatively short period of time. Still, it’s limited, because no more water is being produced. That’s why the way we recycle our water is so important. Water pollution, including what happens with stormwater runoff from construction, can have permanent effects on our ecosystems.
SpreadRite was founded near the Cahaba River, the most biologically diverse waterway in the U.S. This, along with the challenging topography of the surrounding areas, made Birmingham an ideal test market for building systems that can hold up to difficult conditions and still protect our waterways and all the vast impact they have on our lifestyle.
