Crop Care Worker

Backyard Farms, located in Madison, ME is a 42-acre greenhouse, that we like to think of as one big backyard garden! Our spacious facility grows tomatoes year-round. We are seeking Crop Care Workers who will garden our produce to ensure it meets the highest level of quality and efficiency for our valued customers.

• Full-Time Shift: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm; Monday – Friday; Some weekend hours are required, fluctuating hours and schedule subject to the crop demands


• $15.10/hr.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Garden, pick and process tomatoes in our greenhouse environment. Training is provided and on-going.


• Ability to work flexible hours when needed to finish work in periods of fast growth and high


• May operate a trolley to reach produce that can go as high as 20’ in the air.


• Handle equipment and tools with care and respect. Report issues to Supervisor


• Must ensure proper hygiene and cleanliness to meet Food Safety


• Must follow Company rules and regulations, Food Safety guidelines, and Health & Safety


• Report any pest and disease to Supervisor: including type, location and infestation

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.


• High school Diploma or equivalent required


• Previous experience working in the agriculture or restaurant industry preferred


• Self-motivated, positive attitude with good communication skills


• Ability to work independently and in a team, deadline driven environment


• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions:

• Greenhouse environment with variable and fluctuating temperatures based on the season, with high temperatures in the summer months.


• Fast paced environment working on and around powered industrial equipment and background noise approaches 70 dcbs.


• Must be able to work around bees.


• Will be on feet and walking and working on concrete surfaces.
