Position Summary:

Marian Central is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Cross Country Coach to support the development and performance of the high school cross country program. The assistant coach will work alongside the head coach to provide instruction, supervision, and motivation to student-athletes, while promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and personal growth.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist the head coach in planning and      conducting daily practices, workouts, and meet strategies.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices,      meets, and travel.
• Help develop athletes’ endurance, form, race      strategy, and overall conditioning.
• Monitor academic progress and support      student-athletes in maintaining eligibility.
• Promote team culture, inclusivity, and      positive sportsmanship.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all      participants during team activities.
• Communicate effectively with athletes,      parents, and school staff.
• Assist with meet setup, transportation      coordination, and team logistics.
• Uphold and enforce all school, conference,      and state athletic association rules and expectations.

 Qualifications:

• Previous experience in distance running,      coaching, or mentoring youth athletes preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively with      coaching staff and administration
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness      to obtain)
• Must pass required background check and meet      district coaching requirements
• Availability for practices, meets (including      Saturdays), and occasional team events
