Status: Part-Time, Regular without Benefits


Salary: $18.00–$22.00 per hour


Location: Coarsegold, CA

Job Summary



The Cashier provides customer service and supports the daily retail operations of the Crossing Travel Center. This position is responsible for accurately processing fuel and merchandise transactions, assisting customers, maintaining stocked and orderly sales areas, preparing food, and supporting the cleanliness and safe operation of the store, fuel station, restrooms, and related facilities. The Cashier must maintain accurate cash handling practices, follow applicable requirements for age-restricted sales, and contribute to a positive and efficient customer experience.



Essential Duties




  • Greet customers and provide courteous, timely assistance with products and services.

  • Process fuel, merchandise, food, and other customer purchases using the Point of Sale (POS) system.

  • Accurately process cash, credit card, debit card, and other authorized payment transactions.

  • Maintain accountability and accuracy in cash handling, sales receipts, register balances, and required transaction records.

  • Verify customer identification and comply with applicable requirements for the sale of alcoholic beverages and other age-restricted products.

  • Respond appropriately to customer questions and concerns and refer issues to management when necessary.

  • Maintain working knowledge of store products, merchandise, promotions, and advertised offers.

  • Stock shelves and coolers, rotate merchandise, update or mark prices as directed, and maintain organized product displays.

  • Maintain walk-in coolers and other store refrigeration and merchandise areas.

  • Prepare food and maintain kitchen and food preparation areas in accordance with applicable food safety and sanitation requirements.

  • Fill ice bags and maintain the ice storage and sales area.

  • Dispense propane in accordance with applicable procedures and certification requirements.

  • Maintain required certifications for assigned duties, including food handling, alcoholic beverage sales, and propane dispensing, as applicable.

  • Clean and maintain the convenience store, fuel station areas, restrooms, kitchen, counters, equipment, and other assigned areas.

  • Monitor store and operational equipment and promptly report malfunctions, damage, safety concerns, or maintenance needs.

  • Follow established cash-handling, safety, security, sanitation, and operating procedures.

  • Work cooperatively with other employees to support store operations, customer service, and sales goals.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications




  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Valid state-issued driver’s license.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications for assigned duties, including applicable food handler, alcoholic beverage sales, and propane certifications.

  • Must successfully pass a background check.

  • Must successfully pass a drug test for all non-cannabis substances.



Preferred Qualifications




  • Previous retail, convenience store, cashier, or customer service experience.

  • Experience operating a Point of Sale (POS) system and handling cash, credit, and debit transactions.

  • Ability to accurately calculate sales transactions and make change.

  • Experience stocking merchandise, rotating inventory, or performing general retail store duties.

  • Demonstrated customer service skills, including the ability to assist customers and appropriately resolve routine concerns.

  • Familiarity with the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians, its government, community, and culture.

Applicants seeking preference must provide appropriate documentation establishing eligibility. PRCI Tribal Members who meet the applicable qualifications receive preference in accordance with Tribal policy. Under the Human Resources interview rubric, which provides for 75 interview points, qualified PRCI Tribal Members receive an additional 7.5 preference points. Qualified members of other federally recognized Indian Tribes receive an additional 5 preference points.


Indian Preference is applied consistent with applicable federal law, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and applicable federal Indian preference provisions.
