The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is a prepared bachelor’s individual, in a Human Services related field with or without at least 2 years’ experience in a clinical setting. Under the supervision of the Mobile Therapist (MT), the BHT implements the individualized interventions, conducts observations of youth, tracks progress on treatment objectives, provides group and family sessions under the direction of the MT and performs case management and crisis intervention functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assessment of strengths and therapeutic needs of child and family. Active listening, asking questions and exchanging information with children and family.
2. Specifically, BHT services include crisis intervention techniques, immediate behavioral reinforcements, emotional support, time structuring activities, time-out strategies, and additional psychosocial rehabilitative activities as prescribed in the treatment plan.
3. BHT services may be provided by more than one individual during a 24-hour period necessitating ongoing coordination of interventions among the individuals providing the support services.
4. Specific interventions to stabilize the child or adolescent. Respond to Crisis as needed.
5. Support the family’s efforts to stabilize the child or adolescent and to promote age-appropriate behavior by working with the family.
6. Collaborations with other members of the treatment team and other professional working in the home or in other community settings and participation in Inter-Agency Service Planning Meetings when possible.
7. Utilize NTC’s Electronic Health Records (E.H.R.) during tenure of employment. Initial training and on-going training will be provided to employees by respective supervisor and/or assigned team members.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BHT’s will hold a bachelor’s degree in the Human Services field and ideally have experience working with children and youth and families.
