Cross-Functional Team Member - School Choice & Specialized Programming works cross-functionally across the School Choice and Specialized Programming team to support choice outcomes for parents and families. The CTM will lead in project management, communication and training, and other duties to support the broader team.

1. Lead and coordinate key projects across the School Choice and Specialized Programming team, ensuring timely execution, clear deliverables, and alignment with departmental priorities.
2. Develop and implement clear, accessible communication strategies to support families in understanding and navigating school choice options, timelines, and program offerings.
3. Design and deliver training and support resources for internal staff, school-based teams, and community-facing personnel to strengthen knowledge of choice systems and specialized programs.
4. Work collaboratively with internal departments (e.g., Enrollment, Communications, Data Services) and external partners to ensure consistent messaging and equitable access to information for families.
5. Identify and implement enhancements to internal systems, workflows, and tools that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of school choice processes and family experience.
6. Use data to track progress toward choice-related goals, support program monitoring, and inform continuous improvement across teams and initiatives.
7. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree
1 to 3 years
Experience with effective instruction, student extracurricular or magnet opportunities, project management, data analytics
Microsoft Office
No supervisory responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice, and training to staff.
Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.

Decisions are made with greater freedom and discretion, including recommendations that are subject to approval on matters that may affect multiple departments across HISD. Job is frequently expected to recommend new solutions to problems, to improve existing methods/procedures/services and generate new ideas. May also review decisions made by other individuals on more routine matters.
Decisions have considerable impact to multiple divisions or the organization causing risks or improvements to relationships, significant efficiencies, or delays in operations, and/or significant financial gains or expenses. Errors are serious and difficult to discover, normally involve decisions not subject to detailed review and will result in excessive costs and/or significant project delays.
Negotiate and influence - interprets department strategies and services, resolves conflicts, influences outcomes on matters of significance for the division, conducts final negotiations and coordinates approvals/decision making below the executive level. Interactions are typically with customers and Top Management.
Regularly assesses and diffuses complex, and escalated customer issues. Takes personal responsibility and accountability for solving systemic customer service problems. Regularly explores alternative and creative solutions to meeting the needs of the customer within HISD's policies and guidelines.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
