CT/X-Ray Technologist

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Imaging Services: Perform computed tomography (CT) scans and x-ray imaging for trauma, stroke, outpatient, inpatient, and emergency room patients.
• Patient Care: Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process and positioning them correctly to obtain high-quality images.
• Technical Expertise: Operate Siemens CT and x-ray equipment proficiently, ensuring images are captured accurately for diagnostic purposes.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the radiology team and communicate effectively with physicians regarding imaging requests and results.
• Quality Assurance: Adhere to safety standards and protocols to ensure patient care and quality of images.
• IV Administration: Start IVs as necessary for contrast studies.
• Record Keeping: Document procedures accurately within the Meditech EMR system and manage image storage using the DR merge/PACS system (transitioning to Phillips).
• Flexible Coverage: Be prepared to float between x-ray and CT during the graveyard shift as needed.

Qualifications:

• Certifications:
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification.
• Valid state license to practice radiologic technology.
• Experience:
• Preferred experience in trauma and stroke patient care.
• Familiarity with Siemens imaging equipment is advantageous.
• Skills:
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.

Work Environment:

• Department Overview: The Radiology department is equipped with one scanner, handling an average of 60-80 scans/studies per day. The lead technologist will supervise the department during the day shift.
• Radiologist Availability: Radiologists are available in-house from 8 AM to 5 PM and on-call thereafter.
