Job Title: Culinary Arts Instructor – YouthBuild Program
Location: Cape Girardeau, MO
Employment Type: Full-Time

About Us:


Community Partnership of Southeast Missouri (CPSEMO) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals and strengthening communities through housing, employment, education, and family services. Our YouthBuild Program provides education, job training, and leadership development to young adults aged 16-24 who are working to transform their lives.



Position Overview:


We are seeking an experienced and passionate Culinary Arts Instructor to lead hands-on culinary training for participants in our YouthBuild Program. This role provides foundational cooking and food service skills, helping young adults build confidence, earn credentials, and prepare for careers in the culinary and hospitality industries.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop and deliver engaging culinary instruction, including basic food preparation, kitchen safety, sanitation, nutrition, and cooking techniques

  • Create lesson plans aligned with program goals and industry standards

  • Supervise and mentor students in a hands-on kitchen environment

  • Coordinate with the YouthBuild team to integrate culinary training with personal development and job readiness skills

  • Track student progress, attendance, and certifications

  • Prepare students for ServSafe and/or other food safety certifications

  • Support YouthBuild events, community meals, and program showcases

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe instructional kitchen environment



Qualifications:



  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the culinary field (professional kitchen, catering, food service, etc.)

  • Previous teaching or training experience preferred

  • ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)

  • Ability to engage and motivate opportunity youth ages 16–24

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

  • Passion for mentorship, youth development, and second-chance education

  • High school diploma or GED required; culinary degree or vocational certification a plus

  • Must pass background checks and drug screening
