Job Description - Culinary Floor Captain

Description

 

We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Culinary Floor Captain to lead our front-of-house dining experience and coordinate seamlessly with the back-of-house team. This is a unique hybrid role for a service-minded professional who thrives in a collaborative, guest-first environment. The ideal candidate will take pride in delivering excellence, maintaining high service standards, and building joyful connections with residents and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Duties

  • Lead and participate in 9:00 AM stand-up meetings and pre-service team huddles
  • Conduct table touching during meals to enhance resident satisfaction
  • Taste-test food for daily quality assurance and presentation standards
  • Assist with meal service, ensuring accurate plating and proper delivery
  • Check menus and food items for accuracy and alignment with dietary needs
  • Monitor and support team morale and performance
  • Communicate any staffing concerns or needs directly with the Administrator
  • Participate in resident 90-day Optimal Life Program visits

Weekly Duties

  • Audit dishware, utensils, and service equipment; report needs to Administrator
  • Print meal tickets for Emergency Preparedness Folder
  • Receive and store food delivery orders on Tuesdays and Fridays
  • Assemble and deliver coffee cart every Friday
  • Verify weekly menus are printed, accurate, and kitchen-prepared accordingly

Monthly Duties

  • Coordinate and organize resident potlucks and special food-related events with the Activities Department
  • Host and facilitate “Food for Thought” resident meetings in collaboration with Activities
  • Conduct monthly in-service trainings for servers and kitchen staff focused on service standards, updates, and resident feedback
  • Create and manage the monthly server staff schedule
  • Attend planning meetings with Administrator and Activities Director to organize upcoming monthly events

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in food service leadership (front-of-house or hybrid)
  • Strong communication and team-building skills
  • Comfort with basic culinary tasks (plating, food handling, etc.)
  • Familiarity with senior living, hospitality, or high-volume service settings preferred
  • Reliable, professional, and enthusiastic with a passion for service excellence
