Position Purpose:          

The Cultural Prevention Liaison will manage the coalition's day-to-day activities, including meetings, communications, strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation activities within the coalition. This includes providing general oversight for coalition activities, associated projects, grant development and submission deadlines to states, and national reporting and technical assistance to local and regional coalitions and partnerships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for liaising between clients and health care providers to ensure clients understand conditions 
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of social activities and help create a positive environment for everyone. 
  • Attend training related to culturally appropriate crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and follow-up best practices within Tribal communities.
  • Attend and/or facilitate staff in-service and other meetings when appropriate.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the work facility.
  • Assist with community health outreach events.
  • Responsibilities may include developing public awareness for substance misuse and coordinating training and cultural events.
  • Submit monthly transportation and case management reports to the supervisor. 
  • Developing and nurturing relationships with tribal leaders, community members, and relevant organizations.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for tribal governments and organizations.
  • Promoting and supporting the preservation of Native American cultural heritage, traditions, and languages.
  • Organizing and participating in cultural events and community initiatives. 
  • Developing and implementing cultural sensitivity training programs. 
  • Consulting with tribal governments on projects and initiatives that impact Native American communities.
  • Collaborating with different departments and stakeholders to ensure cultural considerations are integrated into decision-making.
  • Advocating for the needs and interests of Native American communities.
  • Representing the organization’s perspective to tribal governments and communities. 
  • Possessing a strong understanding of Native American cultures, history, and issues.
  • Familiarity with relevant federal and state laws and policies related to Native American affairs.
  • Administering programs related to Native American lands and environmental issues.
  • Conducting outreach activities to engage with Native American communities. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work in individual and group settings, self-motivation skills, work effectively under pressure, ability to adapt to change, ability to build positive work relationships with internal and external departments, and the ability to interact professionally with the public and tribal citizens.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational and record-keeping skills are necessary for accurate maintenance of files, correspondence, and follow-up.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods to properly perform the assigned job duties.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance is preferred.
  • Must be able to collaborate with tribes, tribal organizations, and crisis response centers.

Job Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License and Insurance. 
  • Ability to drive tribal vehicles.
  • Minimum High School diploma or GED.
