Location: Hattie Mae White \n\nDepartment: Curriculum Design K-2 RLA \n\nArea:District Wide \n\nContract Months:12 \n\nSalary Range: $90,000.00 \u2013 $110,000.00 \n\nAcademic Year: 25-26 \n\n## JOB SUMMARY\n\nThe District Curriculum Writer 1, K-5 ELA primary focus of this role is developing Houston ISD NES (New Education System) curriculum in English Language Arts grades Kinder through 5th, with a specific emphasis on writing teacher-facing curriculum including slide decks with teacher guidance for implementation, Demonstration of Learning (DOL), student activities and differentiated assignments aligned to the learning objective provided for each day.\n\n## MAJOR DUTIES \u0026 RESPONSIBILITIES\n\n1\\. NES Curriculum Development: Design and create curriculum for assigned content area(s) and grade level band(s), ensuring alignment with NES model and Houston ISD\u0027s educational objectives. This includes slides, student activities, assessments, and differentiated assignments.\n\n2\\. Curriculum Evaluation: Evaluate curriculum through a sensitivity lens to ensure grade-level appropriateness and cultural relevance.\n\n3\\. Participation of Brain Trusts (PLC): Participate in collaborative brain trust sessions to gather insights, share expertise, and foster innovation in curriculum design and instructional strategies to ensure alignment, correctness, and clarity of each lesson document.\n\n## MAJOR DUTIES \u0026 RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED\n\n4\\. Leading and directing is restricted to monitoring work and providing guidance on escalated issues.
