Job Description - Custodial Coordinator


Transylvania University invites applications for Custodial Coordinator.  The Custodial Coordinator acts as the central hub for coordinating custodial operations campus-wide. This role focuses on strategic scheduling, cross-department collaboration, and maintaining custodial operations data, including ArcGIS floor plans. The Coordinator serves as the primary liaison for events, Residential Life, Theatre, and special programs, while also overseeing inventory, space readiness, and supporting departmental planning.


Strategic Coordination



  • Develop daily, weekly, and special event custodial schedules in collaboration with facilities leadership.

  • Maintain a master custodial zone map and cleanable square footage database using ArcGIS.

  • Analyze space usage and recommend scheduling or coverage adjustments.

  • Track custodial service metrics and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and consistency.


Campus Partner Engagement



  • Serve as liaison with Residential Life, Campus Events, Theatre, and Summer Programs.

  • Coordinate move-in/move-out cleaning, theatre space prep, and summer turnover plans.

  • Communicate closures, space readiness, and custodial schedules to campus stakeholders.


Inventory & Procurement



  • Monitor custodial supply levels and place inventory orders.

  • Maintain documentation on materials, equipment warranties, manuals, and vendors.

  • Support the development and implementation of a materials management system.


Administrative & Planning



  • Respond to work orders and custodial-related service requests.

  • Support onboarding of custodial staff, including building orientation and assignments.

  • Assist the Custodial Supervisor with short- and long-term custodial planning, budget recommendations, and compliance tracking.

  • Support continuous improvement and efficiency across all custodial operations.


Required Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of custodial, facilities, or operations experience.

  • Strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Familiarity with ArcGIS or a willingness to learn.

  • Prior experience in campus, event, or residential settings preferred.
