Custodian

Description

The Custodian is responsible for quality cleaning in residential and health care settings of patient rooms, bathrooms, showers, common rooms/areas, offices, trash rooms, and other designated areas of the interior and exterior of Christ House and Kairos House facilities. 

Essential Functions: 

• Responsible for maintaining an overall clean and sanitary environment at Christ House and Kairos House facilities. 
• Demonstrate general and technical knowledge to perform the duties of the job including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing using dust mops, wet mops, mop buckets, vacuum cleaners, cleaning supplies, etc. 
• Knowledge of proper safety and infection control practices and procedures.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenishing supplies as needed. 
• Maintain various floor types, including carpet, wood, vinyl, tile. 
• Collect and empty trash and recycling bins throughout the facilities.
• Maintain trash areas by cleaning ledge/room and receptacles as needed. 
• Perform outdoor maintenance tasks including sweeping walkways, light landscaping, power washing, and clearing snow as needed. 
• Able to perform light maintenance duties as needed. 
• Ensure appropriate cleaning supplies are readily available and communicate with the Lead Custodian the need to order when the inventory is low. 
• Able to work a flexible schedule including some weekends, evenings, and holidays to meet the needs of the 24/7 facilities. 
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Requirements

• Must be able to understand written and oral instruction in English. 
• One to two years of housekeeping experience preferred. Experience in a healthcare setting a plus. 
• Ability to work independently and efficiently. 
• Ability to use and maintain cleaning equipment. 
• Ability to safely perform essential functions of the job, including standing for extended periods of time, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
