Custodian

POSITION SUMMARY

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors at BHA Academy. This role performs daily cleaning and disinfecting of classrooms, therapy spaces, offices, restrooms, and common areas to support a healthy and therapeutic learning environment. The Custodian demonstrates professionalism, reliability, attention to detail, and works independently while supporting the Academy's core values.

This is a safety-sensitive position. Employees must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or related cleaning experience preferred.
• Experience in a school, healthcare, or behavioral health setting is a plus.

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to safely operate custodial equipment and follow OSHA and safety guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clean, disinfect, and maintain classrooms, restrooms, offices, therapy areas, hallways, cafeterias, and common spaces.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and infection control procedures.
• Restock supplies and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
• Respond to spills, accidents, and urgent cleaning needs while maintaining student dignity.
• Operate custodial equipment safely and use appropriate PPE.
• Assist with seasonal cleaning, floor care, and special events as needed.
• Maintain a positive, professional attitude while collaborating with school staff.
• Participate in required safety, infection control, and professional development training.

Starting Pay: Our compensation is competitive within the market. The starting rate for this position begins at $18.00 per hour, with your final offer based on a combination of your education, relevant experience, and overall qualifications
