Custodian

Job Summary

This position contributes to keeping the building in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass and removing rubbish. Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs and cleaning debris from sidewalks.

Responsibilities

• Support the CARE values of the organization.
• Commit to producing a quality product for our customers.
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming them
• Gather and empty trash
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• Check electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
• Clean windows, glass partitions and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges and squeegees
• Dust furniture, walls, machines and equipment

Working Relationship

Communication is required across all levels of the organization – executive team, other functional leaders, subordinates and production floor workers. The Custodian works under the immediate supervision of the Maintenance Manager.

PPE

Safety glasses, ear plugs, and safety shoes are required. Other PPE may be required depending on the role.
