What You Will Be Doing:

The custodian position is responsible for the cleaning of assigned areas to maintain a safe, organized, and sanitary environment for users of those areas.

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

• Cleans bathrooms, carpets, floors, walls, windows, and other surfaces.


• Disposes of trash and recycling.


• Monitors and restocks supplies in restrooms, kitchens, and public areas.


• Maintains custodial closets organized, cleaned, and well-stocked.


• Operates custodial cleaning equipment for such duties as cleaning carpets, scrubbing floors, or pressure spraying bathrooms or showers.


• Adheres to all safety procedures, including use of personal protective equipment.


• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Able to follow instructions and respond effectively to training.


• Able to complete assigned tasks effectively and within designated time.


• Able to work individually and on a team.


• Attention to detail.


• Able to perform the physical requirements of the job as described in the Work Environment/Conditions outlined below.


• Authorized to work in the US Legally without Sponshorship

Preferred Requirements:

• High School degree or equivalent.


• Cleaning experience, with knowledge of custodial equipment and safety procedures.

Work Environment/Conditions:

This is a full time position: Monday-Friday, typically 12pm-8:30pm for second shift. Schedules may be modified during school breaks.

The employee is expected to be available to work overtime for some yearly events.

No local travel is expected for this position.

This job operates throughout all areas of the campus. The employee cleans in bathrooms, offices, classrooms, hallways, stairwells, and other spaces. The specific areas of work are assigned by the custodial supervisor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses basic custodial tools, such as mops, buckets, spray bottles, paper wipers, sponges, toilet bowl brushes, and chemicals. The employee may also use custodial equipment, such as carpet extractors, floor machines, wet vacs, and other specialized cleaning equipment.

The employee is required to walk the majority of the workday, including stairs and traveling out of doors between buildings. Tasks may necessitate bending, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and climbing (i.e., ladders). The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and push or pull gondolas, carts, and equipment ranging from light to heavy weight.

The employee must be reachable while working, either by use of a radio, cell phone, or other device.
