What You’ll Do
As a Custodian, at our Chicago facility, Midwest Food Services, you will play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness, safety, and functionality within our facilities. Your primary responsibilities will include cleaning and sanitizing designated areas, performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks, and ensuring that the premises are presentable for staff, visitors, and customers. Your attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness will contribute to a positive environment for all.

Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, offices, and other designated areas on a regular basis.
Sweep/mop floors and cleanse ceilings as needed to maintain cleanliness and appearance.
Dust and wipe down surfaces such as desks, tables, chairs, and fixtures.
Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with established procedures.
Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, and fixing minor plumbing issues.
Ensure that cleaning supplies are stocked and notify management when reordering is necessary.
Assist with setting up and breaking down meeting rooms and event spaces as needed.
Support special projects and deep cleaning tasks during facility shutdowns or scheduled maintenance periods.
Maintain outdoor areas by sweeping, snow removal, and ensuring general tidiness.
Collaborate with the facility management team to ensure the building is always in excellent condition.
Report any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate personnel
Follow safety protocols and use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and effectively.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
1+ years of experience in custodial or janitorial work
Able to clean ceilings utilizing lift or ladder
Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemicals
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 45 lbs.
Good communication skills and a positive attitude
Basic knowledge of safety regulations (preferred)
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new cleaning methods and procedures.
