Job Description - Customer Service Lead


High Plains Processing is seeking an experienced Customer Service Lead for the plant in Mitchell, South Dakota. High Plains Processing is affiliated with South Dakota Soybean Processors and their strategic partners. Under the direction and supervision of the Customer Service Supervisor, the Lead will provide supervision assistance, training, coaching, task assignment, and motivation through team leadership principals. SDSP maintains a family oriented, collaborative team environment where each employee’s contribution and strong work ethic is valued. Primary Responsibilities

Safety

  • Keep safety at the forefront. Demonstrate and lead safety culture through compliance, training, hazard identification, reporting, emergency response, and active participation in safety initiatives.
  • Work with the safety department and SQF management to implement and monitor employee safety, product safety, plant sanitation, and environmental compliance.
  • Maintain standards above minimum compliance with all governing laws and regulations.
  • Maintain all interior and exterior work areas in accordance with safety policy and procedures including removal of miscellaneous debris, snow and ice from parking lots and sidewalks.

People

  • Assist with supervision and training of all associates within the Customer Service Department, including working random shifts (weekends, evenings, nights, and days) to monitor efficiencies and productivity of all associates on all shifts.
  • Promote a high performing team, demonstrating personal accountability and cooperation.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor all Customer Service Associates to achieve and maintain production goals.

Production

  • Perform a daily walk-through of the rail switches and general condition of loadout equipment. 
  • Verify accuracy and completion of the: Daily Scale Checks, Sanitation logs, Shuttle-wagon logs, and Railroad Pre-entry logs.
  • Perform light duty maintenance as necessary to ensure maximum equipment performance.
  • Engage as a team member, actively completing daily tasks and additional duties such as: participate in month-end inventory rotation, prepare and submit work-orders, fill in as needed for supervisor or team members.

Communicate and Collaborate

  • Professionally interact and clearly communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with all internal departments and supporting teams.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic computer skills including entering data into a spreadsheet and utilizing email
  • Perform duties outside normal responsibilities to support the team and overall organizational goals.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work well with others

Physical Requirements

Must Possess the Ability to Do the Following Frequently:

  • Bend, Squat, & Kneel • Stand & Walk • Push/Pull & Carry/Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Handle Objects • Climb Ladders and Stairs • Reach Above Shoulder Level

Must Possess the Ability to Do the Following Occasionally:

  • Crawl • Sit • Use Fine Finger Movements • Carry/Lift Over 50 lbs.

Working Conditions

This position works indoors (75%) and outdoors (25%) in all weather conditions. Personal Protective Equipment is provided.
